Have you ever heard the saying that the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer?
And it may feel like that is getting more true today with everything that’s going on in the world and seeing the middle class continuing to shrink!
It’s not doom and gloom though, there is a lot of good news in this if you just take a moment to look for it.
Yes, the middle class is shrinking and getting a kick in the a$$ and the lower income bracket is increasing. There’s no denying that. It’s easy to see those stats and get discouraged, and many do. BUT (and yes, I’m saying a great big BUT on purpose), if we really take a look at this article, the upper income bracket is also increasing and at a higher rate than the lower income!
What does this mean?
Well, it means the rich get richer, the poor may get poorer, and those that look AND CREATE opportunities for themselves will succeed.
We can choose to worry about all the negative things in the world right now. Let those be excuses to hold ourselves back. To justify and point fingers and blame why we can’t do this, or this, or that.
OR, and here’s the KEY…
What I know from the past to be completely true, is that times like RIGHT NOW are when the most new millionaires are made.
Read that again.
There is huge opportunity right now within all of these shifts that are happening.
We’re all at a crossroads right now of some kind.
We can choose what keeps us where we’re comfortable. That mythical ‘comfort zone’. I say mythical because it doesn’t actually exist. Did you know that? Think about it. You’re not actually comfortable when you’re in your comfort zone. If it was, you wouldn’t be looking at blogs like mine.
Heck, you wouldn’t be on the internet at all because there would be nothing you would need or want, you’re already in perfect comfort right?!
So what a ‘comfort zone’ REALLY is, is a familiar zone. That’s it. It’s just what you know. So we can choose what keeps us in that familiar zone where we feel safe (which isn’t necessarily true) and doesn’t rock the boat (also not necessarily true).
This is the ‘here’ option at the crossroads. It’s where you are, always have been, and where you will stay unless you make a different choice. It’s where things just ‘happen’. You know what? It’s actually where you can then point the finger on why you couldn’t do something different.
Here are a few examples you may have heard mentioned the last two years. Just maybe.
I can’t because the government said I can’t.
I can’t because we’re in lockdown.
I can’t because, because, because!
This choice at the crossroad is all about the I can’t, because statements!
So what’s the alternative?
There. Over there. That way. Somewhere else.
Remember how the comfort zone is really the familiar zone and all that really is, is what you know?
Well guess what?
You can choose to know something different!
Here’s how it usually looks for most people that choose to create a new opportunity for themselves.
They stand at that crossroads, staring down at what they’ve always done, where they’ve always gone, or where they’re being told to go.
They may even raise their knee like they’re about to take a step. Maybe they totter off balance, their eyes still down that path. But then they take a breath and say ‘SCREW THAT, I’m not going there! I’m not doing this again!’.
Maybe it’s a little more forceful. Maybe it’s an absolute F!CK THAT and they swivel their head the other way. It may be a jerky, rocky step as they twist around to go a different direction, but they take that step.
And then they take another.
And another.
That, my friend, is how a true badass is born.
So take a look at the crossroads you are facing, and look both ways like your momma taught ya!
