Lucky vs. Unlucky: Which one are you?

What makes some people lucky, and some people just downright unlucky?

Some would say it’s just the luck of the draw, you were either born lucky or unlucky and there’s nothing you can do about it.

Do you think this is true?

Richard Wiseman was curious about what makes some people lucky and some people unlucky. He studied over 400 people, a mix of those that self-declared themselves as one or the other.

Wiseman gave them each a newspaper and asked them to count the photos within it. And guess what happened?

The lucky people finished in mere seconds.

The unlucky people took an average of two full minutes.

What made the difference?

On page 2 of the newspaper was a written notice that said “Stop counting, there are 43 photos”.

The lucky people saw the notice. The unlucky people were so busy looking for photos, they didn’t see the note.

Wiseman recreated the test in a variety of ways and found a single consistency.

Unlucky people missed seeing things.

What does that mean?

Luck is simply noticing opportunities!

How empowering!!

We can create our own luck by paying attention and being present, by observing what’s around us.

It’s about having an opportunity mindset. Believing that everything we want is all around us…we just need to find it. Most of us are too busy looking for photos that we miss seeing the opportunities right in front of us.

In his study, Wiseman also found that lucky people weren’t just better at finding opportunities, they were better at CREATING them.

He found that lucky people are more willing to break from routine and try new things. They take UNCOMFORTABLE actions! They are willing to leave their comfort zone.

Create your own luck and your own opportunities by letting go of anything you no longer need. These could be things, ideas, thoughts, people, or habits…make room for new opportunities to blast into your life once you clear that space.

Do something different, be willing to move out of your comfort zone,

and experience life in a new way!

Clear out what you no longer need, what you no longer want to bring into your life. What you think about is what you bring about. Let your past stay in the past, turn your attention to THIS moment. If you are busy thinking about the people that wronged you, the events that upset you, and all the injustices in your life, you are going to bring more of ALL of it into your life. You will manifest more wrongs, more upsetting events, and more injustices.

Is that what you really want?

Of course not!

So make a choice, right now in this moment, to break free from limited thinking and be MORE than you thought you could be. Embrace that you can, and you WILL, succeed.

Each day is a new opportunity. Choose to make this day a great one. Choose to be lucky!
